BELLE ISLE FOUNTAIN

CHRISTMAN COMPANY is in the process of restoring Detroit’s James Scott Memorial Fountain located at the heart of Belle Isle. The fountain, which measures 510’ in diameter and features 109 water outlets in the shape of dolphins, turtles, lions and human figures, is receiving structural repairs, new plumbing, waterproofing, and LED lighting. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

BELLE ISLE AQUARIUM

CHRISTMAN is installing new HVAC equipment inside the Belle Isle Aquarium’s main gallery to assist temperature and moisture control. This project involves the installation of ducting, air handling equipment, and new grates against existing tilework.

CHRISTMAN is further modernizing the aquarium through the renovation of the furnace and air handling room inside the basement of the building. This involved removing existing piping that had been installed over the course of a century, replacing inefficient pump equipment with modern devices, the installation of a new concrete floor, and extensive brickwork resurfacing.

SHELTER 2 & SHELTER 8

CHRISTMAN is renovating Shelters 2 & 8 along Detroit’s Belle Isle Park. These structures offer covered picnic spaces and restrooms for guests of the park. The shelters will receive new bathrooms, structural upgrades, and fresh protective paint, enabling them to continue safely providing for guests for years to come.
